Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming ever more important. Large voice, image and video models are increasingly being used to support critical decision-making. For example, AI is already providing executive or even government advice and plays an important role in medicine. At the same time, adverse effects can occur. For example, although existing large models can faithfully reproduce their training data, answers are, time and again, inexplicably just made up. This is known as ‘hallucinating’. The new AI approach developed by Axel-Cyrille Ngonga Ngomo and his team solves this fundamental AI problem.

Together, they have developed the first family of neuro-symbolic algorithms. These enable novel AI-based systems that combine neural, time-efficient approaches with symbolic, data-efficient approaches. The resulting systems take into account background knowledge, provide explainable models and comply with data protection requirements. The answers provided are always based on genuine data and can be verified. Hallucination is impossible. What is more, the systems work faster and use fewer resources than previous models. The development enables new types of products and solutions in a wide range of areas - from intelligent recommendation services and data-compliant chatbots to explainable support systems in critical areas. The innovation has the potential to create new markets and fundamentally change existing markets. The plan is to sell the core product in the form of an intelligent database solution with integrated AI. Axel-Cyrille Ngonga Ngomo has already managed to attract numerous investors, partners and sponsors. Initial sales are scheduled to begin no later than early 2025.
